Memorable Last Christmas
One particularly memorable flight is a good example, one that still brings up strong emotions for me. I flew to Hillsboro Airport in Oregon to pick up a teenage girl and her family to fly home for Christmas in eastern Oregon. The girl had terminal cancer. They arrived in one SUV with another SUV filled to the top with gifts from the staff of the hospital at which she had been staying. My plane had quite a bit of baggage space, yet we had to get creative to store all of the gifts for this young girl. It was beautiful winter flight to LaGrange, Oregon where she lived. I found out that she passed away two weeks later, but her family told us that she had had a wonderful last Christmas.
